Dag beste leden van LTC Startbaan,

Welkom bij de nieuwsbrief van mei! We hebben een hoop nieuws voor jullie, dus zet een kop thee (of koffie) en maak het jezelf gemakkelijk!

Bericht van de bestuurstafel

2 jaar geleden ben ik bij de Jeugdcommissie gekomen als vrijwilliger en ik vind het erg leuk om de Tenniskids en jeugd te begeleiden bij de thuiswedstrijden en leuke evenementen te organiseren.

Noodgedwongen heb ik in oktober 2024 de functie van penningmeester overgenomen (ad interim) en na een hectische periode, waarin ik veel moest leren en ontdekken, kan ik zeggen dat ik de financiële administratie onder controle heb.

Voor een groot deel zijn er veel overeenkomsten met mijn dagelijkse werk als Credit Manager bij een internationaal bedrijf.

De financiële administratie voor de vereniging bestaat uit 2 delen; het innen van de contributie en het afhandelen van facturen en betalingen. Het innen van de contributie is het meeste werk maar dit is voor een korte periode in het jaar.

Tevens ben ik bestuurslid en ik vind het heel leuk om deel uit te maken van een goed en gezellig bestuur en mee te mogen werken aan een gezonde en gezellige vereniging.

LTC Startbaan heeft dringend behoefte aan een vaste penningmeester. Ik ben het nu nog ad interim en wil het graag snel overdragen. Daarom doe ik een oproep doen aan iedereen: als je affiniteit hebt met een financiële administratie en de vereniging zou willen helpen met de administratie en/of het innen van de contributies, neem dan alsjeblieft contact op met mij of het Bestuur.

Competitieafsluiting

Dit jaar doen we de competitie-afsluiting op een andere manier. De afsluiting is op zondagmiddag 8 juni, direct na het 105 toernooi Roland Garros. De competitie is dan al helemaal gespeeld, dus het is dan bekend wie kampioen zijn geworden. Met zes teams op de eerste plaats hebben we goede hoop op heel wat kampioenen.

Het buffet en de huldiging zijn van 15.00 tot 16.30.

De kaarten voor het buffet zijn voor € 15,- te verkrijgen bij het Sportcafé.

Royal Coster Open Startbaan Toernooi 2025 inschrijving geopend

Traditiegetrouw wordt in week 25 het Open Startbaan Toernooi georganiseerd op onze banen. Het toernooi begint op 14 juni en je kunt je er nu al voor inschrijven via de link mijnknltb.toernooi.nl. Het toernooi wordt mede mogelijk gemaakt door ons sponsors en dan met name onze hoofdsponsor Royal Coster Diamonds.

Het ‘open’ toernooi betekent dat je als LTC-er je krachten kunt meten met spelers van buiten onze vereniging. In de enkelspelen wordt daarbij gespeeld volgens het systeem van actual ranking. Dat betekent dat singel-spelers ingedeeld worden in schema’s met spelers van ongeveer dezelfde actuele speelsterkte. Bij het inschrijven kun je zelf niet op je sterkte inschrijven. Je wordt ingedeeld op basis van jouw op dit moment bij de KNLTB berekende speelsterkte.

Bij de dubbels is de sterkte op je spelerspasje maatgevend, en wel die van de sterkste van een koppel. Terwijl bij de singles gespeeld wordt in een afvalschema, is bij de (gemengd) dubbels een start in poeltjes het uitgangspunt.

Naast dit geldt basis-toernooi is ons OST ook heel bekend om het NRt, een Nationaal Ranglijst toernooi. In dat toernooi komt de (sub)top van Nederland in actie en die speelt dit soort toernooien o.a. om ranglijst-punten te verdienen om hoger op te komen in de Nationaal Ranglijst en van daaruit mogelijk naar de internationale top. Een goed voorbeeld is Suzan Lamens. Zij staat nu op wereldniveau op de 64e plaats en heeft in 2021 bij ons het dames NRt gewonnen. Het NRt wordt door de week overdag gespeeld. Vanaf maandag 16 juni begint een kwalificatietoernooi waarbij de halve finalisten mee mogen doen in het hoofdtoernooi, dat op woensdag begint. De halve en hele finales zijn op de zaterdag en zondag in het slotweekeinde te bewonderen.

Sinds ons park beschikt over padelbanen, kent het OST ook een padeltoernooi, met een breed scala aan speelsterktes.

105 toernooi van The Majors Tennis Academy op 8 juni a.s.

Na een geweldige eerste editie staan we op zondag 8 juni a.s. van 12.30 tot 14.30 opnieuw klaar voor een middag vol tennis en gezelligheid. Nog niet eerder 105 gespeeld? Maak je geen zorgen, alles wordt op 8 juni nog eens rustig uitgelegd.

Na afloop is het tijd om bij te komen met een heerlijke hapjesbuffet, verzorgd door Sportcafé Startbaan. Natuurlijk staat het grote scherm klaar om geen minuut te missen van de finale van Roland Garros. Zet ‘m in je agenda en doe mee – of kom gewoon lekker kijken en meeproeven. Nations Cup 29 juni a.s.

Doe mee met de Nations Cup en speel tennis interlands voor je favoriete land!

De Nations Cup is een tennistoernooi dat zich speciaal richt op de grote groep internationale tennissers van LTC Startbaan. Iedereen is welkom om deel te nemen! Vraag andere clubleden om een team te vormen dat jouw land vertegenwoordigt (4 personen, maximaal 5 personen).

Dagprogramma:

9.30 uur Registratie en warming-up

10.00 uur Start wedstrijden. Het is de bedoeling om zoveel mogelijk tenniswedstrijden te spelen.

16.00 Prijsuitreiking.

We hebben vier prijzen te verdelen! Twee prijzen voor het beste team in de categorieën opkomend en gevorderd. Eén prijs voor de beste outfit/presentatie en één prijs voor de beste slogan/yell.

Deelname is gratis. Schrijf je snel in, want het aantal deelnemende teams is beperkt. Zie onderstaand voor de QR-code.

Americano nieuws

Wat een ontzettende leuke en goede start hebben we gemaakt met de Americano! Geweldig al die enthousiaste mensen!

Al een aantal weken is het op vrijdagavond een gezellige drukte op de banen met de Americano. Afgelopen vrijdag was het hoogtepunt: 32 spelers verdeeld over 8 banen! Wat ongelooflijk leuk om dit te zien!

Even wat updates over deze avonden:

We zien dat steeds meer leden het Americano spelsysteem leren kennen, hierdoor wordt het een zelfregulerend systeem. Dat is precies de bedoeling, we willen iedereen ook danken voor de flexibiliteit en enthousiasme.
Per week kan de baan capaciteit variëren tussen 20 en 32 spelers die mee kunnen doen. Dit is afhankelijk van het aantal banen die beschikbaar zijn.
We zien terug dat een aantal mensen zich op het laatste moment uitschrijven. Wil je dit zo snel mogelijk doen, dan kan de plek makkelijker opgevuld worden. Het is zeker ook de moeite waard je op de wachtlijst te plaatsen.
De ervaring leert dat we vaak net wat langer bezig zijn dan het systeem aan geeft, de rondes lopen uiterlijk tot 21.30.

Mocht het qua aantal inschrijvingen niet uitkomen om 4 spelers op een baan te krijgen dan zal de app dit automatisch onderverdelen door bijvoorbeeld 5 spelers op een baan in te delen. Hiermee veranderen ook de spelregels, dit wordt aangegeven in de app. Lees dit goed door voordat je begint.

Wanneer er suggesties ter verbetering zijn, stuur deze door naar [email protected] of spreek Vanessa, Tamara, Raymond of Michel aan op de baan.

We zullen deze suggesties meenemen naar de ontwikkelaar van de ClubMatch app.

Inschrijving Najaarscompetitie

De Voorjaarscompetitie is nog in volle gang, maar de voorbereidingen voor de Najaarscompetitie zijn ook al gaande.

De Najaarscompetitie wordt gespeeld van 8 september tot en met 12 oktober. We hopen op veel teams en veel gezelligheid. Inschrijven kan, zowel individueel als als team, tot 1 juni via deze link.

Nieuwe bezetting Ledencommissie

De ledencommissie zorgt ervoor dat nieuwe leden een warm welkom krijgen. Het streven is ervoor te zorgen dat alle leden de weg kennen en zich thuis voelen binnen de vereniging. Op de foto Tomas Cusicanqui, Mirjam Groenland, Sudarshan Chawla en Wouter Cosaert. Met de nieuwe commissieleden is de ledencommissie nu op volle sterkte!

Oud-voorzitter Ruud Tjallema overleden

Op 24 april jl. is Ruud Tjallema op 88 jarige leeftijd overleden. Hij is oprichter van LTC Amstelland en indertijd ook voorzitter van LTC Amstelland. Uit de fusie van de verenigingen LTC Amstelland en LTC Meerlanden is voortgekomen onze vereniging, LTC Startbaan.

Ruud Tjallema is in zijn woonplaats Zwolle altijd blijven tennissen en heeft ook vele jaren nog mee gedaan aan de KNLTB kampioenschappen in zijn leeftijdscategorie. Vorig jaar heeft hij zelfs nog getennist!

Hij is altijd betrokken gebleven bij LTC Amstelland en de opvolgende vereniging LTC Startbaan. Velen van de huidige leden zullen hem niet kennen maar de "oudjes "onder ons zeker wel. We wensen zijn familie veel sterkte!

Vrijwilligers gezocht

LTC Startbaan heeft voortdurend vrijwilligers nodig! Momenteel zijn we op zoek naar vrijwilligers voor de volgende posities:

Social media expert die helpt bij inrichten en uitbouwen van ons social media kanaal (Facebook en Instagram).
Lid sponsorcommissie. Deze commissie vormt de brug tussen de vereniging en de sponsoren. Ze zijn verantwoordelijk voor het aantrekken van nieuwe sponsoren en voor het waarborgen van de wederzijdse belangen. Versterking van de sponsorcommissie is gewenst. Het liefst iemand die een goed lokaal netwerk heeft.
Penningmeester. We hebben nu een ad interim penningmeester, maar zijn op zoek naar een vaste penningmeester.
Coördinator vrijwilliger. Ook onze vereniging heeft veel vrijwilligers nodig! De coördinator houdt overzicht over al onze vrijwilligers, brengt de eisen en wensen van de vereniging in kaart en stemt vraag en aanbod met elkaar af.

Message from the Boardroom

Two years ago, I joined the Youth Committee as a volunteer, and I’ve really enjoyed coaching the Tenniskids and youth players during home matches and organizing fun events.

In October 2024, I had to step in as interim treasurer out of necessity. After a busy period of learning and figuring things out, I can now say the club’s finances are under control.

Much of this work overlaps with my daily job as a Credit Manager at an international company.

The club’s financial tasks mainly involve two things:

Collecting membership fees.
Handling invoices and payments. Collecting fees is the biggest task, but it’s only for a short period each year.

I’m also a board member, and I love being part of a friendly, dedicated team that works together to keep the club healthy and welcoming.

LTC Startbaan urgently needs a permanent treasurer! I’m currently filling this role temporarily and would like to hand it over soon. So, I’m calling on everyone: If you have experience with finances and want to help the club with administration or fee collection, please contact me or the Board.

Competition Closing Event
This year, we’re doing things differently for the competition closing. The event will take place on Sunday afternoon, June 8, right after the Roland Garros 105 Tournament. By then, all matches will be finished, so we’ll know who the champions are!

With six teams in first place, we’re hopeful for plenty of trophies.

Buffet & Award Ceremony: 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM

Royal Coster Open Startbaan Tournament 2025 - Registration Open

Traditionally, the Open Startbaan Tournament is organized in week 25 on our courts. The tournament begins on June 14 and you can already register via the link mijnknltb.toernooi.nl. The tournament is made possible by our sponsors, particularly our main sponsor Royal Coster Diamonds.

The 'open' tournament means that as an LTC member you can compete against players from outside our club. In the singles matches, we use the actual ranking system. This means singles players will be placed in draws with players of approximately the same current playing level. When registering, you cannot choose your own level - you will be placed based on your current playing strength as calculated by the KNLTB.

For doubles, the strength indicated on your player card is decisive, specifically that of the stronger player in a pair. While singles are played in an elimination format, (mixed) doubles will begin with pool play.

In addition to this basic tournament, our OST is also well known for the NRT, a National Ranking Tournament. In this tournament, (sub)top players from the Netherlands compete, playing these types of tournaments to earn ranking points to move up the National Ranking and potentially reach the international top.

A good example is Suzan Lamens. She is now ranked 64th in the world and won our women's NRT in 2021. The NRT is played on weekdays. Starting Monday June 16, there will be a qualification tournament where semifinalists can participate in the main tournament beginning Wednesday. The semifinals and finals can be seen on Saturday and Sunday during the final weekend.

Since our we now have padel courts, the OST also includes a padel tournament with a wide range of playing levels.

After a fantastic first edition, we're ready again on Sunday, June 8 from 12:30 to 14:30 for an afternoon full of tennis and fun. Never played 105 before? Don't worry - everything will be explained clearly on June 8.

Afterwards, it will be time to relax with a delicious snack buffet provided by Sportcafé Startbaan. Of course, the big screen will be ready so you won't miss a minute of the Roland Garros final. Mark it in your calendar and join in - or just come watch and enjoy the food. We'll make it another great afternoon!

Nations Cup on June 29

Join the Nations Cup and play tennis internationals for your favorite country!

The Nations Cup is a tennis tournament specially aimed at the large group of international tennis players at LTC Startbaan. Everyone is welcome to participate! Ask other club members to form a team representing your country (4 persons, maximum 5 persons).

Daily schedule:

9:30 AM Registration and warm-up
10:00 AM Start of matches. The goal is to play as many tennis matches as possible.
4:00 PM Prize ceremony.

We have four prizes to award! Two prizes for the best team in the emerging and advanced categories. One prize for the best outfit/presentation and one prize for the best slogan/cheer.

Participation is free. Sign up quickly, as the number of participating teams is limited. See the QR code further up on this page.

Americano News

What a fantastic and great start we've had with the Americano! It's wonderful to see all these enthusiastic people!

For several weeks now, Friday evenings have been lively and fun on the courts with the Americano. Last Friday was the highlight: 32 players spread across 8 courts! It was incredibly fun to see this!

Here are some updates about these evenings:

We notice that more and more members are getting familiar with the Americano playing system, which is making it a self-regulating system. This is exactly the intention, and we want to thank everyone for their flexibility and enthusiasm.

Each week, the court capacity can vary between 20 and 32 players who can participate. This depends on the number of courts available.

We've noticed that some people cancel their participation at the last moment. If you need to cancel, please do so as early as possible so your spot can be more easily filled. It's definitely worth putting yourself on the waiting list.

Experience has shown that we often take a bit longer than the system indicates - the rounds continue until 21:30 at the latest.

If the number of registrations doesn't work out to have 4 players per court, the app will automatically adjust this by assigning, for example, 5 players to a court. This also changes the playing rules, which will be indicated in the app. Please read this carefully before starting.

If you have any suggestions for improvement, please send them to [email protected] or speak to Vanessa, Tamara, Raymond or Michel at the courts.

We will take these suggestions to the developer of the ClubMatch app.

Autumn Competition Registration

The Spring Competition is still in full swing, but preparations for the Autumn Competition are already underway.

The Autumn Competition will be played from 8 September up to and including 12 October. We're hoping for many teams and lots of camaraderie. Registration is open until 1 June via this link, both for individuals and teams.

New Membership Committee Line-up

The membership committee ensures new members receive a warm welcome. Their aim is to make sure all members know their way around and feel at home within the club. Former Chairman Ruud Tjallema Passes Away

On 24 April, Ruud Tjallema passed away at the age of 88. He was the founder of LTC Amstelland and served as its chairman at the time. Our club, LTC Startbaan, originated from the merger of LTC Amstelland and LTC Meerlanden.

Ruud Tjallema continued to play tennis in his hometown of Zwolle throughout his life and participated for many years in KNLTB championships in his age category. Just last year he was still playing tennis!

He remained involved with LTC Amstelland and its successor club LTC Startbaan throughout his life. Many current members may not have known him, but our "old-timers" certainly will.

We extend our deepest sympathies to his family.

Volunteers Wanted

LTC Startbaan is always in need of volunteers! We are currently looking for volunteers for the following positions:

Social Media Expert to help set up and expand our social media channels (Facebook and Instagram).
Sponsorship Committee Member: This committee acts as the bridge between the club and its sponsors. They are responsible for attracting new sponsors and safeguarding mutual interests. We're looking to strengthen this committee, ideally with someone who has good local connections.
Treasurer: We currently have an interim treasurer but are seeking a permanent replacement.
Volunteer Coordinator: Our club relies heavily on volunteers! The coordinator oversees all our volunteers, maps out the club's requirements and wishes, and matches supply with demand.
